Savory Shortbread

I just love these! We used to serve these at the restaurant with a savory appetizer dish of mushrooms and brie cheese. But these would be awesome additions to any party. Serve with fruit and cheese on a nice platter. Cut them in bars if you like or any shapes to make it interesting. But they are delicious !

This would also make a nice savory crust for an herbal cheesecake for an appetizer.

Ingredients:
9oz. flour
2oz. sugar
1/2oz. salt
6oz. butter
3tb. dried thyme
3/4c. toasted walnuts, ground
1 egg, beaten
extra sugar for sprinkling

Directions:
Cream butter and sugar, add flour and rest of ingredients. It should look crumbly like a pastry crust. Pat out on a board and cut into shapes. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle a tiny bit of sugar on top. Bake at 350 degrees till edges just start to brown a bit.
